We went for a walk to a zocalo restaurant for breakfast and it was good. Our plans were fairly open and after a visit to the marketplace we walked to the bus depot as we were thinking of walking there tomorrow morning. We decided that a taxi would be a better option due to the distance and difficult walking conditions. In the afternoon we went to a Trip-Advisor recommended museum on the edge of the colonial part of the city. The museum is called Na-Bolom and it is the home of the one of the first ecologists in Mexico; a woman originally from Switzerland who fell in love with Chiapas and stayed the rest of her long life. She and her equally famous husband were highly decorated in their lives by numerous international institutions (including the king of Sweden) and had numerous important people stay in the old hacienda house. The house is now a living museum and research station with emphasis on the Lanacon Indians of Chiapas and their jungle life. Our guide was extremely informative and,as a native indian had much to say about this ongoing project. He really made this place one of our hi-light stops.
We loved the painting above and although it was a good price the problem was how to get it home.It was painted by one of the in-house painters at the museum
We had a small lunch and Caro decided to shop for a Chiapas purse while I went back to the hotel until she returned.
After a snooze we continued our walking and about 7 PM we picked a nice looking courtyard restaurant for an evening meal. It was great.
We are packing up now getting prepared for a 7 hours bus ride tomorrow.
