Off to Tokyo and Bangkok

Last night we had a great sleep at the Executive Hotel near YVR. It has a free shuttle service to the airport  and although not normally included in the hotel cost we were able to score a free breakfast. Given that hotel was great, and only $140/night, and the breakfast voucher was worth about $45, we have put this hotel into our “return to” file should the need arise.

As I write this next part (using “Notes” on my iPhone) we are over the Pacific, 2000 km from the airport. It has been a smooth ride and we are seated in the very middle of the Boeing 777. 3-4-3 seating configuration.

In Tokyo now. The ten hour flight landed 45 minutes late ( we sat 55 minutes on the plane before taking off from YVR)

Narita airport is huge! We didn’t need to clear immigration as we stayed in the secure area the whole time even though we had to walk through tunnels underground and up and down various staircases before getting to our connecting flight on ANA Airlines.

The ANA flight was smooth. I wasn’t feeling well, however I managed to get about 5 hours of constantly being woke up sleep. It certainly helped pass the time. Caro thinks she slept two hours. This flight was on a Dreamliner and we had 3 seats for the two of us. Fantastic!

Passing through security was relatively easy and after a couple of false starts to find a money exchange (for the taxi fare) we were on our way to Chinatown Bangkok. Our taxi ride was metered but I think the driver took the long way  here. The price was double what we had been told it should be. We were in our room by 0200.
