Going to Cambodia

In the morning we said good bye to Hai, our favourite worker at the hotel. She was wonderful and we gave her a healthy tip whereas the remainder of the staff got tips via the tip jar in reception

I wrote up a couple of great reviews (Hotels.com and Trip Advisor)

We walked around the area, first going to the cathedral which was open for services.

Afterwards we grabbed a coffee (Caro) and hot chocolate (me) in a second floor cafe looking down at the square in front of the church.

A hour or so later we went to the newly discovered street food restaurants for our last Hanoi meal. Yummy!

We left the hotel at 2 PM in a VIP cab the hotel ordered for us and 50 minutes later we were at the airport. Check in, security, and passport controls etc all went smoothly

Our flight left pretty much on time at 5:50 PM in an A321 on Vietnam Airlines and was smooth all the way to Siem Reap however finished off with a hard landing.

Getting our visa at the airport was “OK” but we were dealing with grumpy old men who, it seems, did not like dealing with people who did not know the application, payment etc part of the process. All’s well that ends well as we were allowed into the country

Our hotel supplied personal taxi service picked us up and took us the hour to our hotel (not really much traffic, but terrible roads). This pick up service cost us $44 US, but totally worth it (it was $18 US in Hanoi for the same thing).

The driver gave us lots of information and upon arrival he was genuinely surprised when I gave him $5 as a tip.

We booked our tour to Angkor Wat for 9 AM. We will be buying a three day pass which will take time as I imagine many people will be in the lineup (same price as a two day which is what we really need).
