Granada

 Today was a great day (busy busy)

We took our time getting going. We had booked a walking tour for 11 AM which started very close to us. The guide was very interesting telling all the old history

The next photo is the entrance to one of the oldest buildings in the city dating from the 14th century (I think). The door is from the Muslim times (which finished just before 1492).

The following photo is the chapel next door to the main cathedral.Last night we were there but there was a church service going on so we didn’t take photos.

The next photo is actually interesting as it is a church in which nuns don’t talk to anyone but between themselves. The church is divided into two sections with the nuns closer to the alter and the rest of us in the back. The nuns are all dressed head to toe in white along with a veil. They spend ALL day praying (and nothing else)

Next a photo of our first place to visit tomorrow called The Alhambra. It is “the” place to tour here (and we booked tickets were booked many weeks ago in order to see it). More on that tomorrow!

The next few photos are from inside the cathedral. There is an exposition inside of various religious items.They are stunning, 

One of the places we went by on the tour is the oldest ice cream store in the city. The guide said that there are usually long lineups. Naturally as soon as the tour was over we went there to get some! Yummy!

A bit later we went for a beer and snack in an are suggested by the guide.

By now we were tired so we went back to our room for a couple hours to nap and relax.

About 6 PM we went out again; this time we stopped and “people watched” for an hour while Caro waited for a wedding to finish so she could see the bride. After that we headed back to the same place where we had a beer this afternoon. We had traditional foods ( which we really like when compared to Moroccan food).

During the walk back ( which is a route we have gone on a few times) Caro suggested we carry on past our normal turn for about 1/2 block further and ,Wow, we came to an area full of activities like bars, Restaurants etc. I think we will go there tomorrow night.

All in all ,a great day!
