Friday Valentine's Day

Today was a neat day.

We got together with Roy and Dalaina Wright (Burn's Lake people) at about 4:30 and walked about 25 minutes to the restaurant where we had had lunch a week ago with Fernando etc. I ordered the same meal (shrimp wrapped with bacon) and Caro ordered a different shrimp meal. Both our meals were awesome and this time there was no brass band (only a couple of singers) so we could at least talk a bit and my ears didn't hurt.

Afterward we continued walking in the direction of Soriano's as there was a parade planned for later in the evening.

While waiting for the night time (and the parade) we went to the ocean and watched the sun set.

Roy and Dalaina in photo. Our place is across the bay directly above Dalaina's elbow.

The parade, which had started a couple of kilometres north on the main road finally made it down to our section by about 8:45 PM. It was very slow moving however very enjoyable. There were numerous dance groups with each of them having their own DJ with their support vehicle loudspeakers and flashing lights. One really cool thing was that there were NUMEROUS vendors selling everything from popcorn,to balloons, to various types of lit up fluorescent rings, crowns, airplanes etc. These vendors stayed on the road just in front of the opening band (and moved along with the parade). Anytime there was a break in activities other vendors were there to provide goodies to the spectators (at a price of course). These vendors were moving up and down the parade route.

I think this may have been my first night time parade.

After an hour it was over and we walked back home (about an hour walk) enjoying the beautiful evening temperature.
