A full day in Copenhagen

Thank goodness for jet lag because we were able to sleep pretty good until 5 AM. Even with the boiling hot room

We started walking around the streets at 0730 and after a typical Copenhagen breakfast ( I lied; because we did a heretical thing by eating at McDonalds ) we gathered at Mikes Bike Tours at 1000 and  for the next 3.5 hours we biked around the city and were told all the history of the city. Mike was highly ranked by Trip Advisor and he really was a character.Well worth the $140 cost (we spent over $100 last night just for 2 plates of weiner snitzel and  beer so when in Copenhagen be prepared to spend!)

Next was a hour long canal ride which was OK but nothing special.

Somewhere along the way we ate some typical Danish lunches (yes, really we did).

Later in the afternoon we walked back over to Nyhaven canal which is lined with many, many outdoor restaurants .One small glass of wine (for Caro) and my normal Coke Zero fix cost over $23 but we were paying for the atmosphere which was totally awesome.

Have I mentioned we have been walking? We did another couple of kilometers to get back to our hotel and as of now we are rehydrating with gallons of water before we go out again .

Our request for a fan has been granted.  I hope we sleep good tonight because we plan on doing more stuff in the morning before getting to the harbour for our cruise (incidently 6 of the 12 people on the bike tour including us of course are on the same cruise including one other couple, from Acme Alberta).

Monday night in Copenhagen

The flight on British Airways went smoothly and we arrived at CPH about 7 PM . We had to wait quite a while for our bags but eventually it all worked out

Caught the train to central station and shortly after found our hotel.

The hotel is beautiful but doesn't have air conditioning and Copenhagen is having a heat wave. Our room is stifling hot and we don't even have a fan.

We walked the streets and had a meal at an outdoor restaurant.Ten dollars a beer . This place is even more expensive than Rome but very beautiful in its own right  .

My tablet tells me that it is 2:20 in the afternoon at home but as we only had a couple of hours of sleep I think even the hot room isnt going to stop us from getting to sleep (2220 here)

At Heathrow

Let the gong show begin!

Our flight was 30 minutes late leaving Edmonton and wasn't full.We scored an emergency door exit row and thought we hit the jackpot for legroom but NOOO!  The window seat was freezing due to the door Brrrr.

We had to circle north of the Heathrow for about 30 minutes making us 1 hour late.

For those uninitiated about Heathrow  (us!)we followed the crowd walking a hellava long way to catch the bus to Terminal 5  ( we were at T2) and waited, and waited, and waited before we got through security at T5. After that we headed down to the departure area  only to find that British Air was delayed on many flights including ours.  Right now we are scheduled to leave in 90 minutes (4PM) and we are still not sure of our gate (and there are 3 sections to this terminal and require bus transportation for two of them)

And now, especially for Shiela B if you are reading this, "Mein Gott"  we are tired !

It looks like will will get to our hotel in Copenhagen just in time for a late supper and straight to bed as we have a bicycle tour booked tomorrow at 10.30 AM.

At the Airport

Dad drove us to the airport with Mom. We have a couple of hours to wait but we have wi-fi so all is well!

Air Canada has our luggage booked through to Copenhagen and they have told us that clearing immigration is very fast  so fingers crossed.

Let the adventure begin
